Prince's Iconic Fashion and Memorabilia up for Auction

Prince, the legendary musician known for his hit music, riveting performances, and bold fashion sense, left behind a lasting legacy after his untimely death in 2016 at the age of 57.

Now, fans and collectors have a chance to own a piece of Prince's history through the 'Fashion of Prince Auction' held by RR Auction.

This Boston-based company, specializing in collectibles, memorabilia, and autographed items, is overseeing the sale of more than 200 items, including fashion pieces, photographs, sketches, and accessories that belonged to Prince.

The auction, which runs until Thursday, Nov. 16, has attracted fans and collectors who are willing to pay thousands to own something that Prince wore, possessed, or was a part of.

Bobby Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auction, shares the emotional significance of owning these items for fans, as it helps to keep the connection between Prince and those who love him.

The collection being auctioned was gathered by an individual who spent over 15 years acquiring Prince's items directly from designers and auctions, driven by a passion to preserve each moment of Prince's career through fashion.

Certain standout items in the auction include the white-ruffled shirt worn by Prince during his iconic performance of 'Purple Rain' at the 1985 American Music Awards, with an estimated value surpassing $15,000.

Another prized item is an outfit worn by Prince in the film 'Under the Cherry Moon,' which he also directed, and is valued at over $45,000.

In addition, fans can bid on other items like blue high-heeled boots from Prince's Act I Tour ($20,000+ value) and Prince's blue Schecter 'cloud' guitar, which has already reached $19,000 in bidding.

The auction also offers gloves, jewelry, accessories, and even a pair of Prince's gold mini shorts from the 1995 AMAs.

Beyond the fashion pieces, the collection includes design sketches and fabric swatches, providing unique insight into Prince's thought process and creativity behind his iconic costumes.

One particularly interesting addition is the archive of Prince's 'butt suit' from the 1991 VMAs, where he famously bared his whole butt onstage during a live performance.
