In a sleepy corner of Nebraska, a typical delivery routine took an unexpected turn when FedEx driver Matt Govier was met with a hissing hurdle. A video, which has since spread like wildfire across social media, shows Govier taking on a foe uncommon in the life of a delivery driver: a rattlesnake.

As Govier approached the doorway of Christie Jones's home, he was greeted not by the homeowner, but by the unnerving rustle of a fierce predator, a rattlesnake, coiled up ominously next to the entrance.

The chilling footage, captured on a Ring security video, shows the rattlesnake slither up restlessly to the front porch. Huddled in the corner by the door, the snake calmly awaited the next unsuspecting passerby.

From the moment Govier steps onto the scene, you can hear the icy, distinctive rattling of the snake, punctuating the quiet suburban ambience. It was upon this unsettling symphony that all eyes were transfixed.

In a commendable display of quick thinking and bravery, Govier, undeterred by the dangerous reptile, utilizes a rake and a shovel lying around the house. With swift, measured strokes, he apprehends the snake, wrapping it around the rake.

Moving carefully, he then ferries the snake out onto the lawn. The hair-raising episode concludes with Govier eliminating the threat, executing a feat demanding the courage of the highest order.

After the death-defying encounter, Govier texted Jones, 'I hope you didn’t have a pet rattlesnake at your front door because I killed him. Sorry about the blood.' The text was accompanied by a grim visual of the dead reptile near the doorstep.

The grateful homeowner, delivered from the impending danger, praised Govier and took to social media in a bid to nominate him for the title of 'employee of the year.'

Emphasizing her sincere gratitude and fear of snakes, she posted on Facebook, 'I nominate Matt Govier for FedEx employee of the year. Thank you Matt… anyone who really knows me knows how incredibly fearful I am of any kind of snake.'

Indeed, in the realm of unusual jobs hazards, confronting a venomous rattlesnake undoubtedly tops the list. But in the face of danger, it was Govier's unwavering courage that prevailed, earning him the respect of viewers worldwide and possibly the title of 'employee of the year'.
