Dallas Woman Joins Nationwide Sex Assault Lawsuit Against Uber

A Dallas woman is joining nearly two dozen other women across the nation who are suing Uber and accusing Uber drivers of sexual assault.

Houston attorney Bret Stanley is leading a national committee of lawyers in a multi-district litigation sex assault lawsuit against Uber.

Multi-district litigation involves each plaintiff maintaining their own individual case, which is then shepherded to one federal judge.

Reports indicate that 22 cases in 11 states are being funneled through a federal judge in San Francisco.

One of the plaintiffs is a Dallas woman who alleges that she fell asleep in the back of an Uber and woke up to find the driver fondling her in 2021.

Legal analyst David Coale expects Uber to argue that the accused drivers are not actual Uber employees but rather freelance contract workers.

The plaintiff's attorney believes that more individuals will come forward as the multi-district litigation progresses.
