British rocker and Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers has battled in silence, secretly fighting to regain his voice after enduring a series of strokes that left him speechless.

In an interview with 'CBS Mornings,' the renowned singer-songwriter revealed the devastating impact of his condition, saying, 'I couldn't do anything to be honest... I couldn't speak.'

'That was a very strange thing. You know, I'd prepare something in my mind and I'd say it, but that isn't what came out. And I'd go, 'What the heck did I just say?'' he added.

Rodgers has faced an arduous journey, coping with 11 minor strokes and two major strokes, with the last one almost claiming his life.

The acclaimed vocalist, also known for his time with the bands Free and Bad Company, experienced his first major stroke in 2016.

In 2019, he underwent an endarterectomy, a procedure performed to remove plaque buildup from narrowed or blocked arteries, precisely near the vicinity of his vocal cords.

Doctors presented him with the harsh reality that the operation could potentially take his life.

With a dash of humor, he joked, 'Oh well, that's a plus, isn't it?'

Fortunately, Rodgers triumphed over the odds and woke up after the surgery to find himself still alive.

Throughout this challenging period, Rodgers' wife, Cynthia, remained by his side, aspiring to walk and talk with him once again.

Against all odds, the legendary rocker released his solo album, 'Midnight Rose,' last week, which he described as nothing short of a miraculous feat considering the immense struggles he has faced.

This extraordinary tale of resilience serves as a testament to the unyielding human spirit and the indomitable will to create despite adversity.
