The surprise arrest of former President Donald Trump in relation to charges from the 2020 Georgia election case has triggered waves of celebration within the Democrat party.

Trump's unprecedented booking at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Thursday prompted responses from Democrats nationwide, among them, President Biden.

Democrats were quick to remind the public of a common phrase within their rank and file that not even a former president is 'above the law'.

Seizing the moment, President Biden used this milestone event to boost his fundraiser for his 2024 re-election campaign.

'Coincidentally, I deem today an excellent day to contribute to my campaign,' Biden posted on X, previously known as Twitter, to his millions of followers.

The Trump camp was not far behind, uploading their own fundraising message on Truth Social, featuring the mugshot taken in jail.

Trump's booking which resulted in the release of a mugshot, made history as the first of its kind for a former US president.

Known figures such as Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, weighed in on the matter with posts on X, supporting the notion of universal jurisdiction with photos of Trump's mugshot.

Rep. Madeleine Dean, D-Pa, echoed Pingree's sentiments with her own post on X referencing 'four indictments and 91 charges in total' against Trump and emphasizing that such an occurrence is far from normality.

Her feelings oscillated between 'sadness for our nation, hopefulness for justice, thoughtfulness for Mr. Trump’s day in court, disappointment yet confidence for our democracy and rule of law', and reinforced once again that 'No one is above the law'.

In Atlanta, Georgia, Trump's mugshot was released after he was booked into Fulton County Jail earlier in the evening.

The charges were brought against him based on the District Attorney Dani Willis' investigation into the alleged attempts to override the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state.

This mugshot, the first ever captured of a former U.S. president, has been released while Trump grapples with a total of 13 charges, including one for racketeering.
