Tensions between the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and his father, King Charles III, remain high, with insiders revealing that peace talks aren’t on the horizon despite the prince's upcoming trip to Europe. Prior reports suggested a private meeting on the 17th of September, a date marking the conclusion Harry's Invictus Games trip and the king’s return from Balmoral.

Meghan Markle anticipates joining her spouse in Germany, as per Glamour magazine's coverage. Despite this, insiders from the Sussex camp have refuted the alleged plans of a reunion with the king.

When approached for a response, neither a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, nor Buckingham Palace, opted to comment. Several royal commentators have asserted their disbelief in the likelihood of a meeting between the monarch and his estranged son.

Duncan Larcombe, a recognized royal expert, articulated that the concept of such a 'peace summit' immediately attracted skepticism. He shared, 'From what I gathered, there’s a significant level of doubt about it, and we’re not at that stage yet from either party.'

Larcombe went on to emphasize the monumental hurdle that must be overcome for Harry and Charles to mend their strained relationship. Reports claiming the potential autumn 'peace talks' were refuted by sources aligned with the Sussexes.

The prospect of peace may be obstructed by the ongoing enmity between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William. Larcombe elucidated, 'Given the intensity of the ill-will between the two brothers, I believe King Charles would deliberate considerably before attempting to reconcile with Harry behind William's back. That time has not yet arrived. It’s an eventual possibility, but we are a significant distance away.'

The former American actress, Meghan Markle, who ascended to the title of Duchess of Sussex through her marriage with Harry, will likely not participate in any royal discussion, despite predictions of a potential royal meeting happening. Larcombe justifies this exclusion, stating, 'Should a summit occur, it would necessitate the condition of utmost confidentiality, with assurances that the conversation would remain private. I honestly can't see them trusting Meghan in such a scenario.'

Larcombe further iterates, 'The royals fundamentally doubt Meghan. At this point, they have perfectly justifiable reasons for their mistrust.' Following their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family and relocate to the affluent city of Montecito in California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced ubiquitous scrutiny amid claims of racism and intolerable intrusion from British media.

Christopher Anderson, an author specializing in the history of the monarchy, accentuated the royal family's apprehensiveness given the Sussex couple's track record of public airing of grievances. 'The King is currently focusing on the future of the monarchy and with that, he is beginning to distance himself from the controversial couple. The King has chosen to concentrate on the royals he can depend on – Princess Anne, Prince Edward and, foremostly, Prince William and Kate Middleton – to fortify the royal image.'

King Charles, according to Andersen, is still compassionate towards Harry but expects certain prerequisites for a reunion; one being the assurance of privacy for their discussions. Andersen sheds light on Harry's resistance to these conditions, claiming, 'Harry has carved a new life for himself. Asking him to remain silent now, especially considering his recent revelations, is against his nature.'

The chronicle of Harry's relationship with his family, encompassing their rivalries and his mother Princess Diana's untimely demise, was laid bare in his memoir, 'Spare.' This publication has deepened the rift between him and the King.

Whilst King Charles harbors hopes for reconciliation, Harry's public disclosures have eroded the foundation of trust within the royal family.

Looking towards the future, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are focusing on individual projects to re-establish their global brand. 'The divergence in their career paths doesn't reflect on the state of their marriage. It signifies a change in dynamics,' asserts Duncan Larcombe.

The Invictus Games, set to take place in August, will be the couple's next joint venture. This international sporting event, created by Prince Harry, shines a light on the resilience and spirit of wounded, injured, or sick armed services personnel and veterans. This transformative return to philanthropic pursuits echoes the adage that history repeats itself - a powerful ending to an exceedingly eventful royal chapter.
