Racist Text Messages Between British Officers Target Meghan Markle

Five retired British police officers have admitted to sending racist text messages about Meghan Markle after a BBC investigation.

These men, all in their 60s, were arrested and pleaded guilty to sending grossly offensive racist messages by public communication.

They were former members of London's Metropolitan Police department, having served in the parliamentary and diplomatic protection branch.

A sixth former officer denied the same charge and is scheduled to stand trial.

The messages, exchanged in a closed WhatsApp group, involved derogatory remarks about Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William, Princess Kate Middleton, and the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Even though the suspects sent the messages between 2020 and 2022, none of them were officers at that time.

This is not the first time Meghan Markle has faced racial incidents in the United Kingdom.
