Details have emerged revealing a Russian military helicopter was deceptively drawn into Ukrainian borders after a sophisticated, months-long intelligence operation. The pilot, it is reported, has defected to the Ukrainian side.

A spokesperson for Ukraine's GUR military intelligence disclosed that the agency meticulously designed a strategy to convince the Russian pilot to land his Mi-8 helicopter at a Ukrainian airfield in the Kharkiv region.

Andriy Yusov, the spokesperson, stated, 'This was part of the GUR operation. The entire movement of the aircraft was planned.'

Unnamed intelligence sources cited by Ukrainian media outlet Ukrainska Pravda informed that the special operation had been in progress for more than half a year.

Intriguingly, two other unsuspecting crew members were 'liquidated', as the report put it, after the successful operation. It was also revealed that the family of the pilot had been subtly moved out of Russia and were now in Ukraine.

On national television, Yusov hinted at the GUYR's collaboration with the helicopter crew and assured that more official information would be disclosed in due course. 'Work is being conducted, including with the crew. Everything is fine, there will be news,' he said.

This significant maneuver allows Ukraine not only to boost its limited aviation reserves but also provides a chance to gain valuable intelligence on the Russian air force.
