Burbank Mayor Konstantine Anthony found himself at the center of controversy after a drag queen spanked him during a Democratic fundraiser event.

The incident took place at the Santa Clarita Valley Democrats' Drag Queen Bingo fundraiser on Saturday, where Anthony was in attendance.

Video footage of the event shows Anthony bent over a table as a drag queen playfully struck him with a paddle, much to the surprise of onlookers.

The video, which was initially posted on Instagram by the Wisenuts Podcast, quickly gained traction online after being shared by the popular X account Libs of TikTok.

Local press reports revealed that the fundraiser was advertised as suitable for ages 15 and up, but it was clear that the event was not appropriate for children.

However, Libs of TikTok claimed that Anthony was spanked in front of children, a statement that the Burbank mayor vehemently denies.

Anthony clarified in an Instagram comment that there were no children present at the event, stating, 'No children were in attendance. All attendees were over 21 years of age.'

Amidst the controversy surrounding the video, concerns are being raised by California parents regarding a new state rule that could potentially impact parental custody rights.

The rule requires judges to consider whether a parent has affirmed their child's belief in their transgender identity during custody battles.

Nicole Pearson, a member of the 'Protect Kids California' group, expressed her worry about the implications of this policy, particularly for conservative parents.

She questioned what could happen if both parents disagreed with affirming their child's gender identity, fearing that they could be deemed unfit parents and risk losing custody.

The passing of AB 957 by the California State Assembly further heightens these concerns, as parental rights advocates argue that it jeopardizes parental custody rights when parents oppose their child's decision to identify with a gender different from their biological sex.

As this issue continues to unfold, it serves as a reminder for people to pay attention to the legislative developments happening in California and their potential impact on families and children.

Although the incident involving Mayor Konstantine Anthony may have initially seemed like a moment of shock and amusement, it ultimately uncovers deeper concerns about parental rights and the well-being of children.

It remains to be seen how this controversy will shape public opinion and influence future discussions regarding gender identity, parenting, and children's welfare.
